Peace as Grace: What the Olympics Taught Me

Peace comes to us in two ways. Sometimes we build it, slowly, through the small choices we make each day: the pause before reacting, the honesty we choose even when it’s hard. And sometimes peace arrives as a grace: met, given, held for us at a depth beyond our own effort, and what we in the moment understand can be.
In Chapter Eight of Your Loving Power, I share two stories that taught me this side by side: one about a box of matches, and one about my daughter’s dream of being part of the Los Angeles Olympics during a time of real global fear.
In the first, peace asked me to pause and choose integrity. which happened to cause a wave between what we know on Earth as integrity and what we find to be True in the Eyes of God. In the second, peace met me: as a Presence, in answer to sincere prayer, and carried something I could not have carried alone.
Both are real. Both are necessary. And both point to the same living force underneath: Loving Power, one that holds personal peace and worldly peace as two expressions of truth, landing on two separate levels of consciousness.
